About The Showcase

The Jr Composer Showcase is a festival showcasing students' personal bests, and they are not ranked against one another as in a competition or contest(similar to Solo and Ensemble Festival). Our showcase includes children ages 4- adult. The Showcase will help students use their music theory skills to start writing their own creative musical thoughts!  The Showcase provides a complimentary video link to be used in other festivals or contests. We realize that the video requirements for composition contests are sometimes challenging for students and parents. It is a relatively new form of music adjudication, and you are free to use the professional video link for future contests or festivals.

All students are required to submit a handwritten manuscript and a live performance video for the judge's viewing(which can be the live performance video or pre-recorded if not attending). A computer score can also accompany the handwritten score, however, the handwritten score is the main requirement. The adjudication is based on a report card style for meeting certain items on a rubric. The medals are awarded according to the traditional grading system A, B, C or 70-79 is bronze, 80-89 is silver, and 90-100 is gold. The medallions are made from faux metals. Judge comments and medals will be delivered within 1 month following the performance date.
